Alain Ackermann (*1994) is one of the top upcoming drummers from Switzerland.
His musicality and stylistic versatility bring the talented drummer together with various artists from Switzerland and abroad, already in his young age:
When he was 17 – shows with the Jamaican singer Terry Lynn in Helsinki and Berlin
When he was 18 – shows with the Swiss pop-group TinkaBelle in Germany and Switzerland
When he was 20 – he performs as a solo artist on the first Drum Festival Switzerland (with world-class artists as Thomas Lang/A, Mylious Johnson/USA, Gergo Borlai/UKR)
When he was 21 – he plays as a session drummer with the folk metal band Eluveitie on the largest festivals stages in Europe
Since 2017 – Alain has been a permanent member of “Eluveitie”
Alain takes his first drum lessons at the local music school when he is eight years old and later on at the Drum School Basel. One can quickly recognize his talent. Already with 10 years he plays the first shows and at the age of 15 years, he starts to teach on drums himself.
After quitting school, Alain decides to turn his passion into profession and completed the preparation of studies at the WIAM JazzRockPop Academy in Winterthur. Then he studies at the Agostini Drum School Olten/Paris for the Diploma Superior PDS (DAE). Already after 2 1/2 years as a 19-year-old he finishes the 4-year-old music studies with distinction “permier prix avec felicitation”. At the same time, he’s developing further at the renowned drum department in Stuttgart/DE with Stefan Schütz and Daniel Messina.
He wins several national drum contests, with 17 years for the third time in a row the Swiss Champion title on the drum set.
In 2015 he is awarded with the music promotion prize of Kuratorium Solothurn.
